This sticky rice is served unsweetened and is naturally sticky. Sticky rice is part of the food culture of  people of the Issan region in northeastern Thailand. In the Central Plains (where Bangkok is) and the rest of Thailand jasmine rice is the most popular, however, sticky rice is now enjoyed all over Thailand. Sticky rice is steamed rather than boiled.
